The preparation for Cape Town’s year as World Design Capital 2014 has entered its next phase: The board has been announced and are now starting the process of recruiting those who will be responsible for delivering on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the city. 
 
The first position that needs to be filled is that of chief executive officer of the World Design Capital 2014 implementation company, mandated by the City of Cape Town to manage the planning, co-ordination and rollout of the 2014 programme. This position requires both enviable design industry credentials and strong operational capabilities. 
 
It is imperative that serious contenders for the position have at least 10 years of experience managing a complex organisation or project and hold a postgraduate qualification in such fields as financial management, design, business or law.
